The Buried Life

"... because we're going to break in, and hopefully ask out Taylor Swift."
Duncan
In this episode of "The Buried Life," the four boys are determined to ask out
the girl of their dream. In this case, it is Duncan who wishes to ask
Taylor Swift out. Since, last year, when Ben tried to ask out
Megan Fox, it was a fail. The boy try to break into the CMT and do so. Duncan
gets to meet Taylor Swift, resulting in asking her out and #59
to be crossed off their list. One thing that I took from this episode
was the fact that at times, you need to use teamwork in order
to cross off things off your list. Another thing was that, even if you fail
once does not mean you have to quit and not try again.

Starry Starry Night

"Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood...
Make big plans... Aim high in hope and work."
Daniel H. Burnham
"Aim for the stars," maybe such a cliché statement. However, it is something everyone
should always keep in mind. At one point of my life, I gave up reaching for the
stars. I did not want to even try anymore. I was okay with being in one place.
Just being another lost soul on planet Earth. I didn't care for much. However,
everything changed when I saw this image. I saw it and was amazed
at the starry starry night sky that I saw. The bright shining lights drawing me
towards them. Looking at all the bright lights and wonderful pigments
of colors. There just had to be more than life when I saw this. What I saw
in the photograph was filled with hope that I still had within me. Things
to live for and things to see. Because there is a world
out there waiting to be explored. And we can't just experiences and memories
go to waste. I need to reach for every opportunity and every experience
that I can live. And I cannot wait.
I'm on my way to a Great Perhaps.

Encouraging Hope

"What we like to do is shift the paradigm from viewing dying as a failure to living well and
dying well being the ultimate success life because death is a part of life."
Soto Flouris
Jackquetta was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma- which a rare cancer linked to skeletal
muscle problem. She was diagnosed and told she would only live 2 or 3 more months.
However, she died 9 days after she found out the news of her cancer. Once
Jackquetta had died, her mother found a small journal. Inside was Jackquetta's Bucket List.
This idea came from the hospital Jackquetta spent most of her time. What was most
special about this article was that even though Jackquetta had passed away and could
not accomplish things on her Bucket List, her mother is completing each single thing.
One thing that was written on the Bucket List that the Jackquetta's mother will carry out
is to see her grandchildren graduate from college since their mother passed away.
This was on Jackquetta's list; to have children and see them graduate from college.
Now I want to me selfless and do things for someone who has passed away and
accomplish something off of their list.
Jackquetta left behind 2 children. May she rest in peace.

Do epic s#@*

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than
by the ones you did do. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sail.
Explore. Dream. Discover."
Mark Twain
Before we were assigned this project, I would of thought, "oh that's a cool
picture." However, now that I've been asked what I want to do
before I die, it's something to remind me what I want to accomplish and how.
To do things that will be "epic." Things that i will always remember, but also
others. To imagine and remember that I am amazing no matter what happens.
To create wonderful things and make things that are actually valuable.
That is what I want to do. Things that will always stay close to me through the years.
I want to explore, dream, and discover.

The Great Perhaps

“Francois Rabelais. He was a poet. And his last words were “I go to seek a Great Perhaps.”
That’s why I’m going. So I don’t have to wait until I die to start seeking a Great Perhaps.”
Looking for Alaska by John Green
In the beginning, I was trying to come up with a cool title. "Creative" as Ms. Mogan had
assigned. However, I found myself searching on google, BEST LIFE QUOTES. After
surfing the web for a good chunk of time, I came across a quote from my favorite
author John Green who also wrote my favorite book, Looking for Alaska. I read this
quote and thought, "Melissa you need to start to, 'seek a great perhaps.'"
That is what I will start to do today. Until the end of time.
